The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has formally commenced the 7th Edition of the Ibile Youth Academy, a leadership development programme for young people across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the opening ceremony was held at the Faculty of Education III Conference Hall, LASU Ojo Campus, with stakeholders and youth participants in attendance.
Delivering the keynote address, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to investing in young people as drivers of innovation, leadership, and sustainable development.

He stated that the academy is founded on the belief that youth investment yields immeasurable long-term dividends, strengthening governance and community impact.
Since its launch in 2017, the Ibile Youth Academy has focused on promoting citizenship, leadership, volunteerism, and community service in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu commended stakeholders for sustained support of the initiative.

Represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr Abiodun Dina, she described the academy as a strategic investment aligned with the THEMES Plus pillars of Social Inclusion, Gender Equality, and Youth Empowerment.
She outlined activities for the 2026 edition, including Divisional Leadership Training from February 9 to 13, a One-Day Leadership Seminar and Alumni Launch on February 17, and a Residential Bootcamp from February 22 to 28.

At the conclusion of the programme, one State Youth Ambassador and five Divisional Youth Ambassadors will emerge to implement community-based projects addressing local challenges.
The initiative underscores Lagos State Government’s dedication to grooming future leaders and strengthening youth participation in governance.
