The Lagos State Health Service Commission (HSC) has convened its Year 2025 Strategic Retreat, focused on breaking silos within hospital environments. The retreat brought together hospital administrators at The Zone, Gbagada–Oworonsoki Expressway, Lagos.
Eko Hot News reports that 74 personnel attended the retreat, including heads of administration and other administrators from the state’s 29 General Hospitals, as well as officials from the Commission. The session centred on strengthening collaboration to enhance integrated healthcare delivery.

Addressing participants, the Permanent Secretary of HSC, Dr Cecilia Abimbola Mabogunje, acknowledged the critical role administrators play in hospital operations. She noted that hospitals cannot function effectively without structured administrative leadership.
Dr Mabogunje urged administrators to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. She described teamwork as a practical pathway to achieving integrated and patient-centred healthcare services.

In her welcome address, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Miss Oluwatosin Owoade, reinforced the message of collaboration. She stated that administrators influence hospital structure, environment, and service integration.
Facilitators delivered thought-provoking lectures on breaking institutional silos, strategic investment for the future, and candid discussions on operational challenges.

The sessions were designed to encourage openness and improve efficiency within hospital systems.
Participants engaged in practical discussions to align administrative processes with broader health-sector reforms. Emphasis was placed on innovation, accountability, and synergy across departments.

The retreat aligns with the Lagos State Government’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda on health. Officials expressed optimism that improved collaboration among administrators will strengthen service delivery and enhance patient outcomes across public hospitals.
