The Lagos State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has continued its statewide sensitisation campaign at Lagos Island Local Government to strengthen healthcare delivery and regulatory compliance.
Eko Hot News reports that the initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the World Bank and the Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) programme to enhance oversight of health facilities across Lagos State.

A town hall meeting convened on Lagos Island brought together healthcare providers and stakeholders from within and beyond the council area. The engagement focused on promoting uniform compliance with operational standards in both public and private health institutions.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of HEFAMAA, Dr Abiola Idowu, represented by Mrs Oladunni Omonike, said the campaign reinforces ethical and professional benchmarks in healthcare practice statewide.

She explained that HEFAMAA’s accreditation framework ensures residents have access to safe, efficient, and high-quality healthcare services. The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing approved guidelines and ensuring facilities are staffed by qualified professionals with adequate infrastructure.
Chief Nutrition Officer, Mr Olusanya Richard, stressed the importance of registering all healthcare establishments. He noted that routine inspections of personnel, equipment, and operational environments promote accountability and transparency.

He also highlighted the HEFAMAA Quick Response (QR) Code system displayed in registered facilities, enabling patients to report concerns directly to the Agency.
The Deputy Director of the National Orientation Agency, Prince Saheed Ojomu, warned against patronising unregistered practitioners and condemned quackery.

Community leaders urged residents to prioritise accredited health centres and avoid self-medication, citing long-term health risks.
The programme aligns with HEFAMAA’s mandate to safeguard public health and uphold service standards across Lagos State.
