Buhari’s long-time friend, Awujale of Ijebu is dead.

Eko Hot News reports that the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on May 10, 1934, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, until his demise, served as the Awujale of the Ijebu Kingdom, a traditional state in Nigeria.

Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona was installed as king on 2 April 1960, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigeria. He was a member of the House of Anikinaiya.

The death of the Awujale of Ijebu came just hours after the announcement of the passing of Muhammadu Buhari, his long-time friend.

Buhari died in a clinic in London, United Kingdom, after battling illness for some time.
