The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, has lauded the Restore Foundation for Child Sight, Badagry General Hospital, and partner organisations for conducting a free medical outreach for residents of the community.
Eko Hot News reports that the outreach targeted children between the ages of 0 and 17, with limited dental care services also extended to a few adults at the Badagry General Hospital.
Hon. Hunpe gave the commendation during a visit to the outreach team, led by Dr Andar Ferguson, on Monday, marking the close of the second phase of the exercise, which began earlier in January.
He expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as a critical intervention that has positively impacted the health of children in Badagry.
The Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to cover the cost of eye surgeries for children who were screened and recommended for surgical procedures.
He noted that children benefited from free eye screening, medications, and eyeglasses, adding that the support reflects his resolve to improve child healthcare.
Hunpe assured the team that the conclusion of the current outreach would not mark the end of the partnership.
He appealed to the foundation to continue supporting Badagry in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
The Chairman also praised the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Badagry General Hospital, Dr Adesola Oluseyi, for his achievements since assuming office.
Earlier, a Nigerian partner of the visiting team, Mr D. Muskinni Salau, commended the hospital management for creating an enabling environment that ensured a massive turnout.
He said the outreach stretched available resources but achieved significant success due to community support.
The visit ended with the presentation of cultural artworks, gifts, and a plaque to the outreach team in appreciation of their contribution.
The outreach was organised by the Restore Foundation for Child Sight in collaboration with Green Fountain Dental Clinic and Rainy Day Eye Care Services.
