Leading an inspection tour of ongoing works in Igbogbo (Ikorodu) and Owode (Kosofe), the Head of Special Projects Unit (SPU), Builder Kazeem Ogunlana, reaffirmed LASIAMA’s commitment to strict project monitoring and quality assurance. According to him, the intervention goes beyond cosmetic upgrades, focusing on durable structures and functional workspaces that support professional service delivery.

“At Igbogbo, the transformation is particularly remarkable,” Ogunlana stated during the inspection. He explained that the old portacabin office is being replaced with a purpose-built structure tailored to meet operational needs. In addition, a long-standing water supply challenge at the facility has been permanently resolved through the installation of a borehole system, now fully operational and serving both VIS personnel and nearby buildings.

The LASIAMA VIS Offices Renovation programme spans multiple locations including Akilo, Oko-Oba, Agege, Liasu, Iponri, Cele, Ibeju-Lekki, Olowu, Victoria Island, Mile 2, PWD, Igbogbo, Owode, and the VIS headquarters at Ojodu. Each project has been structured as a four-month contract, with completion timelines projected between April and May.

Scope of work varies by location. New block constructions are underway at Igbogbo, Victoria Island, and PWD, while new portacabins are being installed at Liasu, Akilo, Cele, and Mile 2. Comprehensive renovations are ongoing at Iponri, Owode, Ibeju-Lekki, Ojodu, Oko-Oba, and Olowu, ensuring that older structures are upgraded to modern standards.

During the inspection exercise, the SPU team engaged contractors and Zonal Heads to ensure compliance with technical specifications, agreed timelines, and quality benchmarks. One of the contractors, Mr. Ogundiji Samson, Project Director of Rino Favale Limited, described the transformation as significant. “When we arrived, the site was bare land. By completion, a befitting edifice will stand here,” he said confidently.

He further disclosed that approximately 90 per cent of the project workforce was sourced locally, thereby stimulating grassroots employment and supporting host community economies. The emphasis on local labour aligns with the broader economic objectives of the LASIAMA VIS Offices Renovation initiative.

Contractors also commended LASIAMA for its proactive supervision and regular site inspections, noting that consistent monitoring has ensured adherence to quality standards and accelerated project delivery

Ogunlana emphasised that the ongoing upgrades are strengthening public confidence in government facilities while improving working conditions for personnel. He described the projects as aligned with the development-driven agenda of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose administration prioritises efficient, people-centred governance.

By modernising VIS offices across strategic locations, LASIAMA is reinforcing its mandate to provide safe, functional, and conducive work environments. The LASIAMA VIS Offices Renovation project ultimately underscores Lagos State’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure renewal and enhanced public service delivery for residents.
