The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District II, Mr Omotayo Layemo Sanni, has paid courtesy visits to the Chairmen of Somolu and Bariga Local Government Areas to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving teaching and learning in public schools across the district.
Eko Hot News reports that during the visits, Mr Sanni commended both local governments for their consistent support to schools within their jurisdictions, noting that grassroots partnerships remain critical to delivering quality education and sustaining progress in the sector.
He emphasised the need to deepen collaboration in areas such as sports development, academic competitions, merit awards for outstanding students and teachers, and programmes that promote holistic education and excellence among learners.

The Tutor-General stressed that sustained synergy between the State Government and Local Government Authorities is essential for improving learning outcomes, enhancing infrastructure, and increasing student engagement in public schools.
Responding separately, the Chairman of Bariga Local Government, Mrs Bukola Omope-Adedeji, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that drive academic excellence and youth development.

Similarly, the Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Mr Lateef Ashimi, expressed gratitude for the engagement and pledged continued support for programmes that improve learning environments and strengthen public education within the council area.

Both chairmen assured Education District II of their readiness to collaborate on initiatives that enhance school performance and contribute to the overall development of students.
The engagement underscores Lagos State’s commitment to fostering cooperation between state and local governments to improve education delivery and ensure sustainable development at the community level.
