The Ministry of Information Toastmasters Club has held its first hybrid meeting as part of efforts to strengthen the public speaking skills of Public Affairs Officers.
Eko Hot News reports that the meeting, themed “Evolving Like An Eagle,” took place on Wednesday at the Ministry’s Conference Room, with participants attending both physically and virtually.
The Word of the Day, “Candid,” encouraged members to express themselves honestly and directly throughout the meeting sessions.
In his opening remarks, the Charter President of the club, TM Kayode Oyekanmi, represented by the Vice-President Education and Toastmaster of the Day, TM Ganiu Lawal, welcomed members and guests to the 2026 Toastmasters year.

He urged participants to embrace learning, unlearning, and relearning, stressing the importance of continuous improvement in boosting confidence and communication skills.
Area Director, Division D130, TM Funmi Omotoso, described Toastmasters as a platform that offers candid feedback at no cost and expressed anticipation for future speaking events within the Ministry club.

She noted that constructive feedback remains central to personal and professional growth in public speaking.
Earlier, the General Evaluator of the Day, TM Ayobami Atolagbe, emphasised that feedback is essential for excellence and encouraged speakers to remain open to learning.

He reminded members that consistent practice leads to improved delivery and confidence over time.
The meeting featured an interactive Table Topics session where participants responded to impromptu questions.
The educational segment showcased two prepared speeches delivered by selected speakers.

TM Babatunde Olubajo, a Principal Public Affairs Officer, delivered a speech titled “Key to the Throne,” sharing his journey of growth into public speaking.
TM Kikelomo Oduyebo, an Assistant Director (Public Affairs), presented “Power of My Voice,” narrating how her upbringing shaped her confidence and ability to effect change.
Members actively used the Word of the Day, while club leaders commended the meeting’s organisation and engagement.
