The Health District IV Workforce Team has launched an extensive Monitoring, Supervision, and Evaluation (MSE) exercise across all Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) within its jurisdiction, aimed at strengthening service delivery and ensuring effective implementation of health programmes.
Eko Hot News reports that the monitoring visit, led by Permanent Secretary Dr Abimbola Bowale, focused on assessing healthcare activities, identifying operational challenges, and providing practical recommendations to improve patient care. The initiative underscores the District’s dedication to accountability, resource optimisation, and enhanced healthcare outcomes for residents.

During the inspections, Dr Bowale emphasised that efficient resource management and accountability are critical to improving service delivery. She urged healthcare workers to adopt best practices and embrace strategies that promote effectiveness, safety, and citizen-centred healthcare.
Dr. Oludolapo Sotunde, Director of Medical Services and Disease Control, introduced healthcare staff to the 5S Methodology: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain as a framework to maintain cleanliness, organise workflow, and ensure consistency in service delivery. “By logically removing unnecessary items, keeping the environment clean, standardising procedures, and sustaining these practices, healthcare centres can deliver better quality care to communities,” he said.

The initiative is designed to foster more organised, hygienic, and efficient PHC operations, ultimately enhancing patient experience and health outcomes. Healthcare workers actively participated in the sessions, noting the importance of continuous improvement and adherence to professional standards.
The Health District IV MSE exercise reflects Lagos State’s broader commitment to building a robust primary healthcare system that responds to community needs while ensuring quality, efficiency, and sustainability in service delivery.
